Chasing Herod Sayle

After Sayle found that Alex had discovered his plot he handcuffed him to a chair in front of his giant jellyfish.  The jellyfish was something that Sayle had caught and kept as a pet.  It was enclosed in an enormous tank with gallons of saltwater in it.  While Alex was tied up Herod Sayle got on his plane to go to the presentation of the new Stormbreakers.   At this celebration the Prime Minister will press a button to turn on all of the computers, but it will also trigger the tubes full of smallpox to release into the air.  Little does the the Prime Minister know that he is also turning these on.  One of the women that works for Sayle claims to be on "Alex's side", meaning part of M16, but she is really not.  Alex trusts her and runs off after she lets him free.  As soon as he gets far enough the woman pulls a trigger and the floor gives out beneath him.
Alex finds himself in the tank with the giant, stinging jellyfish!  He has to get out or he will be stung or drown or both.  He remembers the zit cream that really burns through metal.  he takes it out and while avoiding the jellyfish begins to apply it around the rim of glass on the tank.  finally the metal frame melts away and the glass smashes to the floor.  The traitor lady is tackled by the jellyfish and is stung to death.  Alex escapes from the room and jumps onto Mr. Grin's plane.  Mr. Grin works for Sayle as a kind of butler.  When they fly over the museum Alex places a bomb in the plane and then jumps out.  From the air he triggers the bomb to blow and the plane explodes.  Now Alex must get to Sayle and the Prime Minister to stop him from beginning an epidemic of smallpox... to find out what happens....

Plot: The Virus

Alex found his way into the secret lab under Sayle enterprises.  Inside the lab all of the computers were being packed away into boxes.  Over the P.A. system Alex heard about decontamination zones and other things like that.  He had once figured that Sayle had put some sort of computer virus that would destroy all of England's computers.  Now he watches as workers put a real virus into small capsules tucked away in the computers.  the virus is a different form of small pox.  Sayle hates school children and he expects that this horrible virus will kill them off.  And the prime minister believes that this man is just being nice and giving him a gift.
Sayle has a reason to dislike English school children.  He grew up in Cairo and then was moved to England.  the children here made fun of him and how he looked.  The person who made the most fun of him happened to be England's own the prime minister.  He now wants to kill innocent school children because of his own sorrowful past.  How evil is that.  Now that Alex has figured out what Sayle intends to do he must make it out of the building fast enough to warn the rest of M16 as to what is going on.  But, the computers are being loaded, and Alex can only hope that he isn't too late.

Settings: Port Tallon

Port Tallon is a port city on the coast of England.  This is the coastal town in which Herod Sayle chose to put Sayle Enterprise HQ and factory.  It looks out over the English Channel.  Alex finds himself here when he is sent to oversee Sayle's plan.  While here he mostly stays within the confines of Sayle Enterprises.  Once he takes a stroll on a small walking trail, here he is lead off course by Sayle's people.  He follows a misleading sign and is lured to an attack.  In the wide open field that he arrives in, he is faced with two of Sayle's men.  They are both armed and he is not, but still Alex manages to escape, killing both of the men.

Port Tallon also has a small town.  Alex visits this once when he was trying to find out about what Ian Rider found before him.  He goes to the small library there where Sayle had said that Ian had spent most of his time.  While searching he found that Ian had discovered a way to get into the secret room that Alex had previously seen.  Apparently, Sayle Enterprises had been built above a deserted mine and the tunnels were still there.  Ian had found a way in and had been able to get that far before he was killed.  Alex followed the map that he had left and found himself in the secret room.  This room holds the secret to Sayle's secret mission.  What Alex sees is not what he had been expecting, in fact it is ten times worse.  Also he now knows for sure that Yassen Gregorovich is working for Sayle.

M16 promised that they would pull Alex out if this man was there.  But Alex did not tell them, he knew that Ian Rider had started this mission, and he knew that that he had to complete it.  The only problem was that he was running out of time.  The Stormbreakers would be sent out soon and he had to stop them, but how??

Tune in next time to find out!!

Plot : Alex is a SPY

After the bodyguard shot Alex and knocked him unconscious Mr. Blunt took him to a training site. Ms. Jones, head of special operations, gave him his first mission.  A man named Herod Sayle created a new generation of computers, he called them the Stormbreakers.  He is very good friends with the british Prime Minister and wanted to give him a gift.  He decided upon giving every school in England these new Stormbreakers.  Although all Sayle gets out of this gift is an English citizenship, M16 thinks that there is something wrong with the process.  This is where Alex comes in.

Apparently, Ian Rider was killed by man named Yassen Gregorovich, a trained killer.  Now Alex must take the place of an award winning wiz kid named Felix Lester.  Felix had won a contest and the prize was to meet Herod Sayle and be the first kid to use the Stormbreaker.  His mission is to begin where Ian left off, and to find a flaw in Sayle's plan.  M16 thinks that Sayle is going to get something bad out of all this and now it is Alex's job to find out what that was and to stop it.

This book just keeps getting better and better.  Now that Alex is in the action he has already found a piece of evidence and a secret staircase leading to a secret room.  The only problem is that Alex is immature and inexperienced.  His first mistake was that he gave his real name to Herod Sayle when he met him.  When Sayle greeted him as Mr. Lester he said, "You can call me Alex."

Tune in later this week for another update.

Character: Alex Rider

Alex Rider is the main character of my book.  So far he has already showed extreme intelligence and strength.  Alex's uncle, Ian Rider, was killed and the police told him that he died in a car accident, but Alex knew better.  He found Ian's car at the junkyard and solved the mystery.  Ian had not been killed by accident, for the car's front and side windows had been shattered with raining bullets.  At the junkyard he escaped a near death experience but not before he was caught by the bank manager's bodyguard.
Ian Rider had worked at a bank before he was killed.  The bank manager, Mr. Blunt, came to Ian's funeral.  There Alex had seen a bodyguard for that man.  Although this may not seem very odd, Alex then saw that he had a gun at his waist.  A gun was needed to protect a small bank owner?  Alex didn't think so.  When he went to the junkyard he met up with the gun carrying man and had to knock him out.
Later the bank called and asked to meet with Alex.  When he arrived he was led past his uncle's old office.  He asked to go in and see where he worked, but Mr. Crawley (the man he met with) immediately answered no.  He then risked his life and jumped out the building to get into his uncles office.  Alex climbed across a ledge and went into the office.  There he found lots of files that were labeled "Assassinations"  and others.  That's when he realized that his uncle had been a spy.

(To be continued...)
